Freeheld is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Peter Sollett and written by Ron Nyswaner. The film is based on the true story of Laurel Hester (Julianne Moore), a New Jersey police detective who was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and her fight to ensure her pension benefits would go to her domestic partner, Stacie Andree (Ellen Page), after her death. The film was released in theaters on October 2, 2015.
