When two diehard rock climbers are found dead on a climb, along with a 72-carat diamond found in the chalk bag of one of the victims, the team realizes these deaths had nothing to do with rock climbing. Further investigation yields that a plane carrying stolen diamonds had gone missing in the mountains. The two victims must have come upon it but didn't report it and were killed by the people who were looking for the stolen diamonds. Edgerton offers up his expertise in trying to track down the plane.
The killers apparently heard about the diamonds being transported, via private plane, and intercepted it at the airport. However, one of the thieves got a little too greedy and drugged the two pilots, placed just a few of the diamonds on the plane and took the rest. He intended for the plane to crash and his cohorts to look for crash site hoping to find the diamonds which he had all along. While trying to track down two other hikers who may be targeted, Don tries to evade the killers in the steep mountain terrain all while being out of ammunition. Charlie secretly provides information in helping to track Don's whereabouts. Charlie decides to try and get his clearance reinstated.
