Still trying to help Sam regain his memories as Jim, Melinda takes a road trip with him as he looks for his ex-girlfriend Nikki, who had left him for not being committed enough to their relationship. Melinda tries to jog his memory every chance she gets by doing things with him that she and Jim used to do, as Sam does everything he can to track down Nikki. However, Sam's attempts to reconnect with Nikki are rebuffed, as she refuses to believe his crazy amnesia story, seemingly leaving the door wide open for Melinda to move in. Unfortunately, just as some of Jim's memories return to Sam, Nikki changes her mind and comes to Grandview to try and help Sam regain his memory. Meanwhile, Delia is forced to adjust to Ned getting older after busting him having a party at Melinda's, who he was house sitting for. Complicating things, Delia is revisited by the ghost of her high school friend Angie, who had been hit by a car after partying too much when they were both teenagers and who now finds Delia hypocritical. Angie helps Ned discover that Delia was a big partier while in high school, making it hard for Ned to understand why he is being punished. Eli is able to help mediate the situation, and helps Angie explain to Delia that her parents had been very hard on her before she died, and that that had pushed her away from them. Angie gets her point across, convincing Delia she needs to be more compassionate than hard if she wants Ned to be open with her, and then Eli helps Angie cross over after reconnecting with her parents.
