George Michael: Spice Girls Inspire Music

The 'Faith' singer, who recently denied split rumor, says the girl band have encouraged more British females to break into the industry.

has heaped praise on the for changing the music scene by encouraging more British females to break into the industry. , , , and rose to fame in the 1990s with their pop hits and "Girl Power" mantra.

And Michael insists the group has influenced today's music by inspiring young girls, such as British singers and , to become musicians.

"I know people don't take them seriously, but I think the Spice Girls changed the entire landscape and British music massively under-exploited female talent," he tells radio show "In:Demand".

"These girls now that are out there are absolutely giving the Americans a run for their money, they come from that generation that ran around the playgrounds going 'girl power', and I think that's fantastic."
