White was identified by police as a member of the Colton City Crips gang. He was arrested close to an area he and other gang members are banned from congregating near under a 2008 court injunction. Other gang members were with him.

White was arrested and booked on suspicion of various weapons violations. He previously denied being a member of the gang, claiming authorities "punish me for not allowing them to dictate what I can and cannot do for my income and entertainment purposes."
