Prince William and Kate Middleton Plan Babies After Tying Knot
British royal Prince William and his fiancee Kate Middleton are already making plans to start a family following their 2011 wedding. The 28-year-old heir to the throne proposed to the brunette beauty in October during a holiday in Kenya, and the happy news was announced by royal officials on Tuesday, November 16.
William reveals the couple has talked about their future plans - and they both want to become parents once they are married. He says, "I think we'll take it one step at a time. We'll sort of get over the marriage first and then maybe look at the kids. But obviously we want a family so we'll have to start thinking about that."
Prince William credits his 2007 split from Kate Middleton with making their relationship stronger - because it gave them both time to mature. The couple, who announced their engagement on Tuesday, began dating in the early 2000s after meeting at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. They split briefly in 2007 but later reunited - and the couple is adamant the temporary separation helped improve their romance.
Prince William says, "We did split up for a bit. We were both very young. It was at university, we were both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff. It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up, it was a bit of space and a bit of things like that and it worked out for the better."
Middleton explains, "I think at the time I wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person, you find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realized. "I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn't think it at the time."
The royal engagement has made headline over the globe and apparently has also been heard by Hollywood celebrities. Vanessa Williams was thrilled to learn of Prince William's engagement - because it reminded her of the "buzz" surrounding his parents' union in the 1980s. The British Royal proposed to longterm girlfriend Kate Middleton on holiday in Kenya last month and the happy news was made public on Tuesday.
Singer/actress Williams admits the excitement about the announcement mirrored the furore around Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales' engagement and wedding in 1981 - and she can't wait to see William's nuptials too. She tells British morning show Daybreak, "It's fantastic, it just reminds me of back in the day when I remember when Charles and Diana announced (their engagement) and that was such a buzz."
"For us, I was living in New York at the time, and getting up in the middle of the night to watch the wedding live, it was amazing, one of those memories I will always have. It's (William's wedding) going to be exciting."
