Nicki Minaj Hires Benny Medina to Replace P. Diddy as Manager
Music

The female rapper ends his working relationship with P. Diddy because she feels like she hasn't 'gotten the guidance the manager is supposed to give his client.'

AceShowbiz - Rap sensation Nicki Minaj has parted ways with her manager Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs in favour of the guru behind Jennifer Lopez's career, Benny Medina. The "Your Love" hitmaker, who is signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money label, joined fellow hip-hop star Rick Ross on Combs' management roster in May this year after three years under the guidance of Debbie Antney, mother of rising rapper Wacka Flocka Flame.

But Minaj has now cut ties with Combs ahead of the November release of her debut album "Pink Friday", admitting she didn't feel enough "progress" had been made in the five months she's spent under his wing. In a statement, she says, "By now, everyone should know that I am really strict when it comes to my representation."

"I had sympathy for (Combs), however I feel as if I haven't gotten the guidance the manager is supposed to give his client. Personally, I feel like I'm being managed by mother. Even if you play the smallest role on my team, I wish to see progress." She adds, "I'd like to thank him for everything he has done for me; for taking me under his wing. I wish him the best with repping Rick. But now that my album is about to drop, its time to get serious and stop playing games."

Medina, Minaj's third manager in a year, has previously handled Mariah Carey and Brandy, and has been Lopez's longterm representative.
