AceShowbiz - Kanye West still blames himself for his mother's 2007 plastic surgery death - insisting it would never have happened if she hadn't moved to Los Angeles to manage his career. Dr. Donda West died in November 2007 from heart disease and complications from a breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction procedure.
The grieving hip-hop star opens up about the tragedy in a candid new first-person essay for the October issue of U.S. magazine XXL, for which he served as guest editor. And he's convinced his mum's death could have been avoided if she hadn't quit her job as a professor and moved with him to L.A. - where there's so much pressure to look perfect.
He writes: "When I moved to L.A., she moved to L.A. And she wound up in a place that would eat her alive. Even if I stayed in New York, it wouldn't have been like that. If I had lived in New York, she'd still be here."
