French Film 'Amelie' Voted the Best Shot Movie in Decade

French film hit "Amelie" has topped a new poll to find the best shot film made between 1998 and 2008. The American Cinematographer magazine list is the follow-up to one the publication did over a decade ago to seek out the most beautiful movie of 1894 to 1997.

"Amelie" cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel is thrilled with the new honor, telling the magazine, "This is a real honor for me, especially considering the other movies in this list. These are some of the finest cinematographers, and I'm not sure I deserve to be among them, but I am very happy to be. They are all explorers."

More than 17,000 film fans participated in the poll. Delbonnel's camerawork beat Emmanuel Lubezki's in "" and Janusz Kaminski's for "Saving Private Ryan".

Robert Elswit ("") and Roger Deakins ("") round out the top five. Deakins, an eight-time Oscars nominee since 1995, had a total of four films in the publication's top 50 poll - he also landed on the list for his work in the films "", "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "The Man Who Wasn't There".
