Jermaine Jackson Defends Dr. Conrad Murray
Jermaine Jackson has sparked further controversy over the death of his brother Michael Jackson - he's convinced the star's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray is just a "fall guy" and the person to blame for his passing is somebody "higher up than the doctor". Murray stands accused of administering the powerful anaesthetic Propofol which led to Jackson's death last year and has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
He has been allowed to keep his medical licence ahead of his preliminary trial date, which has been set for August. Jermaine intends to be in court to see Murray and "support" his famous family - and he's sure further revelations will come to light during the trial. During an appearance on U.S. talk show "Larry King Live", he says, "I'm there for support. There to keep my mother strong and my father and the family."
"It's not even important whether he keeps his licence or they take his licence away. The bottom line is Michael is not here. What he administered in Michael should have been in a hospital setting and he did not act alone. (We) all feel - myself, Randy, La Toya, all of us, feel that he's the fall guy. And knowing how this whole thing works, and knowing it's higher up than just the doctor, and he's there. And if you squeeze him hard enough, he will talk."
And Jermaine is adamant the truth will one day be revealed: "This family is not going to let it not happen. The world needs to know the truth. We need to know the truth. You need to know the truth. We're going to do everything in our power as a family to make sure the world knows what really happened."
Also, Jermaine Jackson has defended his father Joe after he accused his estranged wife Katherine of failing to step in and help her famous son Michael in the run-up to his death, insisting the comments were taken "out of context". Joe Jackson blasted his spouse in an interview with British tabloid the News of the World earlier this month, claiming Katherine could have done more to prevent the Thriller hitmaker spiraling into prescription drug addiction before his tragic passing last year.
Katherine's lawyers hit back, insisting she did everything she could to help Michael - and Jermaine has backed his mum, insisting his father's comments were misinterpreted. He told Larry King, "You know, Larry, everybody has taken that out of context. I think my father said that because my mother... was very, very close to him. And she could get him to say and do things before my father and before any of us, so the fact that he said my mother should have done that..."
"But the bottom line is we all were very busy in trying to tear down this wall that Michael surrounded himself with. These were the outside people who didn't want us in. And that's what he (Joe) meant by breaking that barrier or trying to. She (Katherine) should have been more attentive to trying to get through because he knew she had a pass all the time. Not a pass, but just an OK, just to get through it. It was tough. Very tough."
