Sean '' Combs is urging British rappers to embrace their roots because they will never find success in the U.S. if they try to imitate their American counterparts. The music mogul is convinced U.K. stars will always fail in the States if they attempt to fake an American accent or rap about subjects they have no experience of.

But Combs is pleased to see a new generation of Brit rappers who include references to life in Britain in their music, including , and - and he's adamant they all have the potential to score hit records in America.

Combs says, "I've always been abreast (sic) and respected the U.K. hip-hop scene and I look forward to great things. I think in the past maybe some of the U.K. hip-hop artists weren't as authentic to where they come from. It's all right to be from the U.K. and it's all right to talk about what you want to talk about and not try to sound or be like somebody from the U.S."

"(There is now) self-pride in U.K. hip-hop. That's the starting point. Hip-hop respects something that's authentic. Just like the way in the U.S. it took time for the south and the west coast to break, it's the same thing and I just think that U.K. hip-hop is on the verge of breaking."
