Ashton Kutcher to Help Russian Officials in Ending Human Trafficking

Demi Moore's husband has joined eBay boss, Twitter co-founder and the president of the New York Academy of Sciences in helping Russian officials to fight human trafficking.

has turned technology diplomat in an effort to help Russian officials crackdown on human trafficking. The tech-friendly star has joined a delegation of politicians and boffins, which has jetted off to Russia to offer advice and tips about how technology can help lawmakers.

The project follows the success of a similar U.S. State Department-related mission to Iraq and Mexico City in 2009, which provided officials in those countries with information and equipment to help them beat crime. While in Russia, Kutcher will discuss how communications technologies and social media, like his beloved Twitter.com, can be used to strengthen and broaden the ties between America and Russia and help leaders there fight crime issues.

He joins eBay.com boss John Donahoe and Twitter.com co-founder Jack Dorsey, as well as Ellis Rubinstein, the president and CEO of the New York Academy of Sciences. Kutcher has agreed to 'tweet' about the trip.

The co-founder of the Demi and Ashton Foundation, which works on anti-trafficking issues, Kutcher is keen to promote new ways of combating the growing illegal sex trade problem in Russia. The delegation is tentatively scheduled to meet with politicians and advisors to President Dmitry Medvedev, as well as the leaders of Russian technology and telecommunications companies.
