Jane Lynch Dissapointed With Barack Obama for Banning Gay Marriage

January 12, 2010 (2:37 am) GMT
'Glee' actress Jane Lynch has a big disagreement with President Barack Obama on his decision to ban gay marriage, calling the country's leader as 'a huge disappointment' to her.

"" star has hit out at U.S. President Barack Obama for not making gay marriages legal across America - branding the country's leader "a huge disappointment". The openly gay actress, who has won rave reviews for her turn as tough cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in the hit show, insists the decision to ban gay marriage in California in 2008 shouldn't have taken place - because the majority don't have the right to vote on the lives the minority.

And Lynch is angry Obama hasn't stepped up to allow gay marriage across the U.S. - comparing the ongoing battle to the civil rights movement in '60s America. She tells Britain's Guardian newspaper, "Shouldn't there be safeguards against the majority voting on the rights of a minority?"

"If people voted on civil rights in the '60s, it would have never happened. It took somebody like (U.S. President) Lyndon Johnson going, 'F all of you! I'm going to do this.' Obama won't do it. He's a huge disappointment to me."
