While undergoing vocal therapy, the Bon Jovi lead vocalist says he is ready to give up his career as a singer if he's not able to fully recover from the throat surgery.

AceShowbiz - Legendary rock star Jon Bon Jovi has revealed that he may retire from singing if his voice fails to recover fully after a recent throat surgery. The 62-year-old underwent the procedure in 2022 and has been undergoing vocal therapy since.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Bon Jovi expressed his willingness to end his singing career if his performances are not up to his standards. "If the singing is not great, if I can't be the guy I once was...then I'm done," he said. "And I'm good with that."
Despite his current vocal struggles, Bon Jovi has continued to perform and record with his band. However, he emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality performances, stating that he does not want to become "the fat Elvis."
Bon Jovi's vocal cord injury, which involved an atrophied cord, required a "cutting-edge" implant. The procedure has allowed him to regain some of his singing abilities, but he is still unsure if he will be able to sustain the rigorous demands of live performances.
"There is a big difference between being in a studio and going out on the road," Bon Jovi explained. "We have just recorded a new album. I sing in vocal therapy every day. But I want to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week - and I know how good I can be, so if I can't be that guy... put it this way, I don't ever need to be the fat Elvis."
The Bon Jovi documentary "Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story," premiering on Disney+ on April 26, follows the band's journey, including Bon Jovi's vocal recovery process.
Amid his recovery, the musician is expected to perform at his son Jake Bongiovi's upcoming nuptials with "Stranger Things" actress Millie Bobby Brown.
Despite his potential retirement plans, Bon Jovi remains grateful for his successful career and expresses a desire to appreciate his accomplishments. "I'll be crushed if I can't sing live again, but what does a quarterback do when faced with the last ball he'll ever throw?" he said. "That's the situation I'm in. I want to look back on 40 years of Bon Jovi, look forward to the new album, and appreciate everything."
