AceShowbiz - During CinemaCon's presentation at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, 51, stole the stage while promoting the upcoming sequel "Moana 2". Accompanied by the Polynesian dance troupe Nonosina, Johnson performed an energetic choreography that showcased his impressively muscled physique.
Wearing a clingy white tank top that displayed his sculpted-in-marble arms and tattoos, Johnson spoke of the transformative impact the role of Maui had on him. "Playing Maui is one of the most life-changing life experiences for me and life-changing roles," he said.
In the presentation, Johnson was honored with the Spirit of the Industry Prize by the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO).
Disney showcased a first look at the long-awaited "Moana 2", featuring the return of Auli'i Cravalho as the titular princess and Johnson as Maui. The sequel introduces a new crew of seafarers as Moana embarks on a dangerous journey beyond the shores of Motunui.
"We never stop choosing who we are," a voice narrates, suggesting that Moana's adventure will explore themes of identity and self-discovery. The footage features stunning visuals and new music from Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina.
In addition to "Moana 2", CinemaCon attendees were treated to exclusive sneak peeks of other upcoming Disney titles, including "Inside Out 2", "Deadpool & Wolverine" and "Mufasa: The Lion King".
Marvel star Anthony Mackie ("Captain America: Brave New World") attended the event and posed for photos with Johnson. Amy Poehler, known for "Inside Out", promoted the film's sequel while sporting a stylish ensemble. Barry Jenkins, director of "Moonlight", introduced the upcoming "Mufasa: The Lion King" prequel.
"Moana 2" is set to hit theaters on November 27, while the live-action remake of "Moana" is slated for a 2026 release.
