AceShowbiz - CBS Studios is developing a new reboot of the iconic 1990s drama "Melrose Place" featuring the return of three original cast members, including Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga.
The reboot, written by Lauren Gussis, follows the beloved characters years after the original series ended. When one of their closest friends dies unexpectedly, the residents of Melrose Place reunite to honor their memory. However, the reunion reignites old traumas, romances, and resentments, while also revealing new secrets.
Locklear will reprise her role as Amanda Woodward, Leighton will return as Sydney Andrews and Zuniga will portray Jo Reynolds. The trio will executive produce the series alongside Tiffany Grant and Jason Weinberg. CBS Studios, which owns the Spelling library, is the studio behind the project.
The original "Melrose Place", a spin-off of "Beverly Hills, 90210", ran for seven seasons on Fox from 1992 to 1999. Known for its campy storylines and steamy relationships, the series became a cultural phenomenon and made Locklear a household name.
Over the years, "Melrose Place" has been rebooted twice. In 2009, The CW aired a short-lived revival starring a new cast, while CBS Studios revived the series in 2017 with the scripted-reality hybrid "BH90210" ,which featured original cast members reprising their roles.
The latest reboot aims to draw from the original series while incorporating a modern perspective. It remains to be seen if any other original cast members will join the project, including Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant and Kristin Davis.
