AceShowbiz - Emmy-winning actress Julia Garner has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe project "Fantastic Four (2024)" as a version of the Silver Surfer, according to PEOPLE. The casting follows Marvel's previous reveal that the reboot will feature Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

Garner, 30, will reportedly play Shalla-Bal, a character created by Stan Lee and John Buscema. The character first appeared alongside the four astronauts-turned-superheroes in 1968 as the lover of Silver Surfer Norrin Radd.

Garner, known for her role as Ruth Langmore on "Ozark", has won three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for her work on the Netflix drama. She was also Emmy-nominated for playing Anna Sorokin on the Netflix miniseries "Inventing Anna".

"Fantastic Four" director Matt Shakman, who helmed all nine episodes of the MCU Disney+ series "WandaVision", will direct the upcoming film. The scriptwriters include Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer, Josh Friedman and Eric Pearson.

The film, set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, will be the first version of the Fantastic Four to inhabit the storytelling of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The iconic characters have previously been portrayed in two films in 2005 and 2007, as well as a 2015 remake outside the MCU.
