The 'Saturday Night Live' comic announces separation from her husband after more than a decade of marriage, claiming she turns into a 'better version' of herself after the split.

AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" star Heidi Gardner has announced her separation from her husband of 12 years, Marvel Comics writer Zeb Wells.
In an interview on "The Liz Moody Podcast," the 40-year-old actress shared the difficult news, saying, "Sadly, I went through the end of a relationship, which it feels weird to say because I know that person will always be in my life."
Gardner did not specify when the couple broke up and refrained from mentioning Wells by name. However, she expressed her gratitude and respect for him, saying, "You know, sending them all the love and respect in the world that I still have for them."
Despite the pain and loss associated with the separation, Gardner revealed that she has gained valuable lessons. "It was a couple-year period of transition and grief and hope and loss and all of those things," she said. "But I feel like I never wasted a day in getting to know myself, becoming a better version of myself, and becoming a better friend and future partner."
The actress emphasized the importance of having supportive female friends during challenging times. "The biggest thing I learned is to lean on the women in your life and your girlfriends," she stated. "They showed up in such an incredible way and showed me that my romantic partner does not need to be my emotional rock."
Gardner explained that she has also learned to provide a safe and supportive space for her friends going through similar experiences. "I like to create a space where no one feels shame if they're throwing their partner under the bus one day and then saying, 'But today is sweet,'" she said.
Gardner and Wells, 46, tied the knot in 2010 and do not have any children together. Gardner has been a cast member on "SNL" since 2017 and is currently its longest-running female cast member.
