In a new magazine interview, the 'Les Miserables' actress talks about the pregnancy loss she once suffered while she was starring in an off-Broadway play and the impact it had on her.

AceShowbiz - In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, acclaimed actress Anne Hathaway has opened up about experiencing a miscarriage in 2015. The revelation comes, five years after she alluded to infertility challenges in a 2019 Instagram post.

At the time of the miscarriage, Hathaway was starring in "Grounded", an off-Broadway play where she played a fighter pilot grounded due to an unexpected pregnancy. She recalled having to pretend everything was fine while giving birth onstage every night.

"The first time it didn't work out for me," Hathaway explained. "It was too much to keep it in when I was onstage pretending everything was fine."

She kept the pregnancy loss a secret, but confided in friends who visited her backstage. Hathaway shared that after experiencing the pain of infertility, she felt compelled to speak out and let others know they were not alone.

"When it did go well for me, having been on the other side of it, I wanted to let my sisters know, 'You don't have to always be graceful. I see you and I'm with you,' " she said.

Hathaway went on to have two sons with her husband, actor Adam Shulman. In the interview, she also reflected on the emotional toll the miscarriage took on her. "It's really hard to want something so much and to wonder if you're doing something wrong," she admitted.

Her experience has led her to believe that sharing her story can provide comfort and a sense of community for others who have struggled with fertility or pregnancy loss.
