The former 'Saturday Night Live' comic is set to revisit the role, he once played on the NBC sketch show, for the upcoming feature film due for 2026 release.

AceShowbiz - Bill Hader is set to voice the iconic feline in a new animated film based on Dr. Seuss's beloved tale, "The Cat in the Hat". The film, scheduled for release on March 6, 2026, will see Hader lead an all-star voice cast that includes Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell.

According to studio representatives, the film will follow the Cat as he attempts to cheer up two siblings struggling to adjust to their new town. Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja are on board to write and direct the project while Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern serve as producers. Susan Brandt and Hader will executive produce alongside the animation studio partner, DNEG Animation.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are behind this new adaptation, which marks the character's animated big-screen debut. Mike Myers previously portrayed the Cat in a live-action adaptation released in 2003.

Hader is no stranger to the role, having humorously played the character on "Saturday Night Live" in 2014. That sketch, in which the Cat had a romantic relationship with a mother of two young kids, has since become a viral sensation.

The new "Cat in the Hat" film marks Hader's first project since his Emmy Award-winning series, "Barry", concluded in 2023. The show earned 55 Emmy nominations and 10 wins during its four-season run.

"We are thrilled to partner with Dr. Seuss to bring this beloved classic to life on the big screen," said Bill Damaschke, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. "With Bill Hader as The Cat and our talented filmmakers, we aim to deliver a Seussian cinematic experience that audiences worldwide will enjoy."

Susan Brandt, president and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, added, "We are delighted to have this exceptional group of artists bring this iconic character to the screen. Dr. Seuss's 'The Cat in the Hat' has captured generations of young readers, and we believe this animated film will enchant a new audience with its humor, heart, and imagination."

The new "Cat in the Hat" film is part of a slate of animated Dr. Seuss projects in development by Warner Bros. Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
