The 'Prisoners' actor was left with a swollen arm because of staph infection after shooting dangerous stunt for his movie which also stars Conor McGregor.

AceShowbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal experienced a serious health scare while filming the upcoming remake of the cult classic action movie, "Road House".

During an appearance on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast, the 43-year-old actor revealed that he sustained a severe cut on his hand that led to a staph infection.

"We're fighting on the floor, fighting around tables, we're fighting around glass," Gyllenhaal said, describing the stunts in the film. He recalled a particular bar scene where he "put my hand on the bar" and came into contact with "f***ing straight glass."

The cut was so severe that Gyllenhaal felt the glass penetrating his hand. "I remember the feeling [and] went, 'That's a lot of glass.' "

The cast and crew endured numerous injuries throughout the production due to the intense fight scenes. Staph infections, caused by bacteria entering open wounds, are common occurrences in such settings.

"Gratefully, I was really, really trying to take care of everything that we did and my body while we were doing it. I didn't sustain any major injuries," Gyllenhaal said, attributing his overall well-being to the support of his team.

In the film, Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who becomes a bar bouncer in the Florida Keys. The cast includes McGregor, Jessica Williams, Post Malone, and Daniela Melchior.

Gyllenhaal has previously discussed the rigorous preparation involved in his role for "Road House." He enlisted the help of trainer Jason Walsh, chef Paulette Tejeda, and a nutritionist to achieve the physicality required for the action sequences.

"It took a village" for him to get in shape and safely execute the stunts, Gyllenhaal said. Despite the challenges, he expressed gratitude for the team's support and is excited for audiences to experience the film.
