The actor, who was in the area for the filming of his new film 'The Unholy Trinity', has pleaded guilty to two charges and was fined more than $1500.

AceShowbiz - Pierce Brosnan "deeply regrets" his recent action. Having been charged over allegations he hiked into prohibited areas of Yellowstone National Park, the former James Bond star issued a public apology on his Instagram page.
"As an environmentalist I have the utmost respect for and love of our natural world," the 70-year-old wrote. "However, I made an impulsive mistake - one that I do not take lightly - when entering a thermal area covered in snow in Yellowstone National Park to take a photograph.
Pierce claimed he "did not see a 'No Trespassing' sign posted that warned of danger nor did I hike in the immediate area." Still, he said he "deeply regret my transgression.
"[I] offer my heartfelt apologies to all for trespassing in this sensitive area," the actor continued. "Yellowstone and all our National Parks are to be cared for and preserved for all to enjoy. #StayOnThePath."
The "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" star was charged with "foot travel in all thermal areas and w/in Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails and Violating closures and use limits," which are listed as petty offenses. According to the park's website, the thermal areas of Yellowstone have "delicate, breakable crusts that can sit atop scalding water."
For safety measures, visitors at the national park are advised to "always walk on boardwalks and designated trails. Keep children close and do not let them run on boardwalks." Other safety precautions include staying away from water in the hot springs as they can cause severe or fatal burns.
Pierce, who was in the area for the filming of his new film "Unholy Trinity", initially entered a not guilty plea. He, however, eventually pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined more than $1500.
