The 'Ready Set Go' rapper is videotaped being taken away in handcuffs at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles allegedly after being involved in a physical altercation.

AceShowbiz - Killer Mike's night at the 2024 Grammy Awards has soon turned from glorious to rowdy. The rapper has been detained at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles after winning big in the rap category during the pre-televised portion of the ceremony.

The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner broke the news with his videos on X, formerly known as Twitter. He posted the footage of the 48-year-old being taken away in handcuffs and escorted by police while still wearing his black suit. He was taken into a security room inside the arena, near the VIP entrance.

A source added that "it's a big nothing" and that he may be released later this evening. An arena security official tells the site that Killer Mike was detained for a misdemeanor charge that has nothing to do with Grammy Awards and that the Los Angeles Police Department would be involved.

While the specific charge is unknown at this point, TMZ claims that he was detained after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a security guard at the event. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. was also seen talking to security and the rapper's team for around 10 to 20 minutes before heading backstage.

Killer Mike was escorted by police in handcuffs around 4:22 P.M. PT, less than an hour before the main telecast began at 5 P.M. PT. Earlier that night, the artist, whose real name is Michael Santiago Render, won in all three of the categories he was nominated in: best rap song and best rap performance for his track "Scientists & Engineers" and best rap album for "Michael", his sixth studio album released in June 2023.

He shared his best rap performance award with featured artist Andre 3000 a.k.a. Andre Benjamin, Future and Eryn Allen Kane. Andre also shared the win for best rap song along with Paul Beauregard, James Blake, Tim Moore and Dion Wilson.

Sunday's night marked Killer Mike's first Grammy Award wins since 2003, when he won his first Grammy for best rap performance by a duo or group for his feature on OutKast's "The Whole World".
