The 'Material Girl' hitmaker makes the comparison when she apologizes to her fans in Toronto, Canada upon learning that she made a mistake for calling them 'Boston.'

AceShowbiz - Madonna has compared calling out a city with a wrong name during a concert to being mistaken for Lady GaGa. The "Material Girl" hitmaker admitted that it was "f**ked up" to mistakenly call the city of Toronto "Boston."

The 65-year-old Queen of Pop made the mistake while having a conversation with her fans on stage at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada on Friday, January 12. At that time, it was the second night she performed at the venue. She opened the show by greeting the concertgoers, "Are you ready, Boston?"

Upon learning of the blunder, Madonna apologized to the devotees, as documented in a video from the concert that was uploaded by a fan via TikTok on Monday, January 15. She could be heard asking, "Are you guys mad at me 'cause I said, 'Hello, Boston?' " She went on to say, "I'm sorry. What kind of f**ked up s**t is that?"

The "Like a Prayer" songstress further explained, "That would be like if you guys are saying like, hey, Lady GaGa's playing tonight," before bursting into laughter. She then admitted, "I wouldn't like that."

Madonna additionally claimed, "I mean, you know, nothing, nothing against Lady GaGa." She also assured the fans, "Love her," prompting the crowd to cheer. She later stressed, "I do," before joking, "I love anyone shorter than me."

In the wake of the apology, Madonna was showered with praise by social media users for admitting that she was wrong. In the comments section of the TikTok video, one in particular gushed, "I Love ver!!!!!! She recognized her mistakes."

Meanwhile, some other users compared Madonna's success to that of GaGa after the former mentioned the latter. However, Madonna had several others come in her defense. One of them wrote, "At this point if you don't understand Madonna’s sense of humor…. She's the embodiment of irony and she's played this cynical character since the 80s."

Similarly, another penned, "I'm the biggest GaGa fan, I've been and continue to be a huge GaGa stan, she's my favorite. But I do understand and respect Madge's sense of humor, her art and her legacy."
