AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande's newly-released music video for "Yes, And?" is inspired by Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted". The resemblance is obvious enough that it stole the attention of the "American Idol" judge, who subsequently sent love to the "7 Rings" hitmaker.
Making use of Instagram on Friday, January 12, the 61-year-old shared visuals for both tracks. In the caption, she gushed, "WOW! Waking up to see @arianagrande pay homage to 'Cold Hearted' in her new music video 'yes, and?' was EVERYTHING!!! What an honor! What was your favorite part of the video? I love you, Ari!!! XoP."
Catching wind of the post, Ariana replied, " love you too, sweetest queen ! thank you for your brilliance and for inspiring me (and so many people) endlessly !" Christian Breslauer, who helmed the "Yes, And?" MV, also left a comment that read, "One of my favorite videos of all time. Hope we did it justice in your eyes."
Ariana dropped the new music video earlier on Friday. The clip features a number of people gossipping about the pop star in a building before all of them enter a room. They are later seen sitting on chairs before the singer appears and approaches them one by one to get things off her chest.
On the song, Ariana sings, "Now I'm so done with caring what you think/ No I won't hide underneath your own projections or change my most authentic life." She continues, "Boy come on put your lipstick on (no one can tell you nothing)/ Come on and walk this way through the fire (don't care what's on their mind)/ And if you find yourself in a dark situation just turn on your light and be like."
People were not impressed by Ariana's new offerings though. Some Internet users deemed her a "homewrecker" amid her romance with actor Ethan Slater. Many believed that their relationship started before he split from his estranged wife, Lilly Jay.
In the replies section of a tweet featuring a short clip from the music video, one user in particular blasted Ariana, "She helped ruin an entire family with a newborn baby and now she wants to play the victim by dissing the internet and press like she wasn't caught…I can't stand her." Another penned, "A reputation era works when the public scrutiny is for a false narrative not when you're a homewrecker."
