Golden Globes 2024: 'Oppenheimer' and 'Poor Things' Named Best Pictures, Full Movie Winners Revealed

The Christopher Nolan-directed biopic dominates the ceremony with five wins, followed by the Emma Stone-starring comedy, 'Barbie', 'The Holdovers' and 'Anatomy of a Fall' with two each.

AceShowbiz - "Oppenheimer" has come out as the biggest winner at the 81st Golden Globe Awards. After tying with "Barbie" for the most nominations (9 apiece), the epic biopic ended up winning the most trophies at the Sunday, January 7 ceremony.

The biographical thriller nabbed the coveted Best Picture (Drama), winning over "Anatomy of a Fall", "Killers of the Flower Moon", "Maestro", "Past Lives" and "The Zone of Interest". It additionally won Best Director for Christopher Nolan.

Its lead actor Cillian Murphy was named Best Male Actor - Motion Picture - Drama for his portrayal of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. His co-star Robert Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Male Actor - Motion Picture for his role as Lewis Strauss, while Ludwig Goransson won Best Original Score for his work on the movie.

"Poor Things", meanwhile, surprisingly beat out "Barbie" in the Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) category. Other strong contenders were "Air", "American Fiction", "The Holdovers" and "May December".

The fantasy black comedy film additionally won Best Female Actor - Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy for Emma Stone, who played Bella Baxter in the film. It's her second Golden Globe win in her career, while she was also nominated in a TV category that night.

"Barbie" also didn't come home empty handed. It won the inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures award, defeating the likes of "Oppenheimer", "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One", "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" among other nominees.

The Greta Gerwig-directed movie additionally bagged Best Original Song for "What Was I Made For?", performed by Billie Eilish and co-written by Eilish with her brother FINNEAS.

Also bagging two awards at the ceremony was "The Holdovers", which won Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Paul Giamatti and Best Supporting Actress for Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Meanwhile, "Anatomy of a Fall" was chosen as Best Picture (Non-English Language) and bagged Best Screenplay for Justine Triet and Arthur Harari's script.

Lily Gladstone was picked as Best Female Actor - Motion Picture - Drama for her role in "Killers of the Flower Moon", with Hayao Miyazaki's "The Boy and the Heron" as the winner in the Best Animated Film category.

The show, which was hosted by Jo Koy, also presented awards for the best in TV categories, with the likes of Jared Leto, Angela Bassett, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Natalie Portman, Florence Pugh and Oprah Winfrey among the presenters.
