When making an appearance on a podcast, the brother of the 'Maleficent' actress claims that he changed his life to help 'protect' his sister's children after her breakup from the actor.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie's brother changed his life after her split from Brad Pitt so he could help "protect" her children. The "Maleficent" actress filed for divorce from the "Bullet Train" star, with whom she has Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, in 2016 after 12 years together and subsequently accused him of physically and verbally abusing her and their children on board a plane, and James Haven has now explained how he felt the need to prioritize being there for his nieces and nephews.

Asked how he had supported Angelina as her personal life "unfolded in the public eye," he told "90who10" podcast co-host Jessica Entner, "That's where it all started, it started with the protection of her and her children - my nieces and nephews. I set my life up so I can be present with whatever the situation. I want to be there for them or for her - whatever she's going through."

The 52-year-old actor thinks it is important to be able to offer support and guidance to his sister's children in their "massively formative years." He added, "They're becoming young adults, early 20s.I think it's just very natural and I just want to be there any time."

The 48-year-old actress recently claimed she "lost the ability to live and travel as freely" amid her divorce but hopes to relocate to Asia once her ongoing legal issues with Brad are over. She told WSJ. Magazine, "It's part of what happened after my divorce - I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can… I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity."

And she noted how she and her children needed time and space to "heal" from the public breakup. She said, "We had to heal. There are things we needed to heal from." Once she does get to leave Hollywood, the "Eternals" actress wants to find "authenticity" with her children and spend more time at her home in Cambodia. She revealed, "They are the closest people to me and my life, and they're my close friends. We're seven very different people, which is our strength."
