In her upcoming memoir 'The Woman in Me', the '...Baby One More Time' singer writes about her emotional interview with the famed journalist, claiming that she felt 'exploited.'

AceShowbiz - Diane Sawyer is another person targeted by Britney Spears in her upcoming memoir "The Woman in Me". The singer has called out the journalist for exploiting her during their interview in 2003, when she was just 21 years old.

In an excerpt from her first tell-all obtained by the New York Times on Thursday, October 19, Britney said she was pushed to a "breaking down" during the emotional sit-down. "I felt like I had been exploited, set up in front of the whole world," she wrote, as quoted by the news outlet.

In the "Primetime" interview which aired in November 2003, Diane grilled Britney on her high-profile split from Justin Timberlake with a line of questioning inspired by rumors sparked by Justin himself that she had cheated on him.

"He's going on television and saying you broke his heart," the former "60 Minutes" correspondent said to Britney. "You did something that caused him so much pain. So much suffering. What did you do?"

At one point during the sit-down, Diane asked the "Toxic" singer about the "spasm of publicity" surrounding her personal life, prompting the pop star to break down in tears and ask the crew to pause on filming.

The interview left Britney's fans enraged, with playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris accusing Diane of participating in a "particularly vile" and misogynistic culture when the interview resurfaced in 2021 following the release of the documentary "Framing Britney Spears".

That same year, Britney spoke out against Diane in a lengthy message on Instagram. "What was with the 'You're in the wrong' approach?? Geeze... and making me cry???" she wrote.

Diane has not responded to the backlash from Britney and her fans in the past, nor she has reacted to the singer's claim in her upcoming memoir. The book will hit the shelves on October 24.
