In a statement released to the press, the 'Put On' rapper also says, 'Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship, and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.'

AceShowbiz - Jeezy (Young Jeezy) has broken his silence on his divorce from Jeannie Mai. The "Put On" rapper, who decided to pull the plug on their marriage after only two years, insists that his "love and respect" for his estranged wife remain the same despite the split.

On Thursday, October 19, the 46-year-old issued a statement to the press that read, "The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart." He added, "Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart."

"Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship, and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves," the emcee continued. "During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family's privacy as we focus on healing."

Jeezy filed for divorce from Jeannie in September. According to court documents, the rap star is asking for joint custody of the exes' daughter Monaco. In the docs, he stated that their marriage is "irretrievably broken" and "there is no hope for reconciliation." It's allegedly also stated that the pair have a prenuptial agreement in place.

Jeannie herself has addressed her split from Jeezy. She first broke her silence on her divorce via Instagram on October 11. In her first post since the filing, she shared a cryptic post that read, "Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect, to heal." She simply added a black heart emoji in the caption.

Later when appearing on "Sherry", Jeannie said, "I'm not going to lie, it takes every day, to just really sit and just be quiet in your thoughts ... take care of me." She went on to tell host Sherri Shepherd. "But one thing I know is, 'You give God your pain, He will give you his Power.' ... I'm just taking it day by day."

When talking about being a mother to one-year-old girl Monaco, the author called her daughter her "north star." She went on to admit, "I don't know if I would handle this the same way without her."
