More than one decade after calling it quits with Rebecca, the 'Big Shot' actor admits that he thought the 'Endangered Species' actress was 'the devil' and he 'just hated' her.

AceShowbiz - John Stamos revealed that he was bothered by claims about his divorce from Rebecca Romijn. More than one decade after calling it quits with Rebecca, the "Big Shot" star admitted that he was humiliated by speculations suggesting that the "Endangered Species" actress "dumped" him.

On Wednesday, October 18, the 60-year-old opened up about his feelings and thoughts when he was writing his book titled "If You Would Have Told Me". In the memoir, which is set to hit bookshelves on October 24, he discussed his past marriage life with Rebecca and the aftermath of their divorce.

Speaking to PEOPLE, John said, "It was very much the opinion that she dumped me because her career was going great and mine wasn't, and that's humiliating. I don't blame her for it. It was just the perception that people took, and maybe they weren't wrong. She was doing great at that time and I wasn't." He continued. "It was very public, and that was very painful. I didn't write much about that, but it's hard."

During the chat, John confessed that writing parts relating to his former marriage in the book was "really difficult" as he "had to reflect on his feelings" at that time. "My first marriage was shattering to me. I was shattered for way too long, too. I mean, a year, okay, good. But it went on [for] years and years," he explained.

"In my mind back then, she was the devil, and I just hated her," John elaborated, "I couldn't believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life. Looking back, and I talk about it [in the book], because it's one of the steps in AA where the fourth step is you lay out all your grievances, everything that people did to you. I go like, 'None.' "

Though so, the former "Scream Queens" star later realized that he had flaws too. "You start thinking, it's like, 'Oh, she wasn't the Devil. Maybe I was as much to blame as her,' " he shared, noting that Rebecca "was trying to make it work because she cared" about him before their separation.

Elsewhere in the interview, John talked about his healing process, which "was not healthy." "That's when I really started to kind of drink a lot," he recounted. "But without that, I never would've known what a real love is, and I would've never straightened up to get someone like Caitlin in my life," he added, making a reference to his current wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos.

John and Rebecca tied the knot back in 1998. The former couple separated in 2004 and finalized their divorce a year later. In 2018, John went on to marry Caitlin, with whom he shares 5-year-old son Billy. Meanwhile, Rebecca wed Jerry O'Connell in 2007. They have two children together.
