AceShowbiz - Jennette McCurdy isn't done exposing her mom. The actress has made a shocking claim in a podcast interview, revealing that her mother used to give her "breast and vaginal exams" during shower, which she believes was because Debra McCurdy felt "ownership" over her.
The Sam Puckett depictor on "iCarly" star made the jaw-dropping revelation about her late mother, who passed away of cancer in 2013, in the Monday, July 10 episode of "The Louis Theroux Podcast". During a chat, she said about her mother, "She would give me breast and vaginal exams in the shower and said that she was checking for lumps - she was just checking for cancer."
The "I'm Glad My Mom Died" author went on to unveil that during the shower, her mother Debra "would be clothed." Still, she admitted, "But it was uncomfortable for me. I knew it felt violating for me, and I knew I didn't want it."
Jennette said that her mom went hysterical when she asked if she could shower herself. She recalled, "The one time I had attempted to even say, 'Hey, do you think I could shower myself?' she flew into hysterics. And it just became clear to me, 'Oh, I can't ever try to shower myself again.' "
The former Nickelodeon star further shared that she could finally shower in private after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Back in 2009, she started her singing career and had to go on tour. In the meantime, Debra had to stay in a city to do her chemotherapy. "She physically could not be with me, and that was I think the only reason why I was able to finally start showering myself," she pointed out.
On the reason behind her mother not allowing her to shower by herself, Jennette believed that it was due to several factors, including "no boundaries," "ownership," "the fear of me growing up" and "body monitoring."
Jennette's revelation about Debra giving her "breast and vaginal exams" came a few months after she unraveled an email sent by Debra. In September 2022, she read out loud the harsh message she received from her abusive mother on "Red Table Talk". "I am so disappointed in you," she started.
" 'You used to be my perfect little angel, but now you are nothing more than a little' - all caps - 'slut, a floozy, all used up. And to think you wasted it on that hideous ogre of a man,' " the 31-year-old star continued.
