Jake Pentland has come to his mother's defense after the former 'Roseanne' star claimed 'nobody died in the Holocaust' during an appearance on podcast 'This Past Weekend with Theo Von'.

AceShowbiz - Roseanne Barr's son has leaped to his mother's defense as she has come under fire over her controversial comments on Holocaust. The comedian has been accused of being antisemitic after she seemingly denied Holocaust during a recent podcast appearance.

Speaking in defense of his mother, Jake Pentland blasted "stupid" critics whom he claimed mistook his mother's sarcasm. "We are embarrassed that people are stupid enough not to recognize Roseanne is being sarcastic," he told TMZ on Tuesday, June 27.

"We think it's funny that people are so stupid," he added. "Let's stop doing this clickbait s**t, we need to focus on big problems in America. Focusing on out-of-context clips is what morons do."

Jake defended his mother after Roseanne faced backlash for her comments on "This Past Weekend with Theo Von". In a clip of the episode, she said that "nobody died in the Holocaust."

"And, that is the truth. And, nobody died in the Holocaust either. That's the truth," the 70-year-old said to host Theo Von. "It should happen. Six million Jews should die right now cause they cause all the problems in the world. But, it never happened." The stand-up comic went on to say that she is "100 percent" Jewish.

After a clip of the episode went viral, social media users quickly slammed Roseanne for her comments. "There is NOT one damn thing that is even close to funny in Roseanne Barr's vile outrageous LIES," one critic said. A second person weighed in, "I have looked into the eyes of a holocaust survivor and listened to her speak of her experience ... Roseanne Barr needs to check herself into the looney bin."

A third commenter blamed Theo for giving Roseanne a platform. The said user wrote, "[He] seemingly allowed Roseanne Barr to spew holocaust denial nonsense on his podcast. He's been trying to defend it with full context clips, but I watched that one as well and it didn't make it any better so I'm unsure what he was thinking."

Theo, meanwhile, has defended the actress. Echoing Jake's sentiment, he tweeted, "This Roseanne Barr clip was sarcasm folks. A clip taken out of a long sarcastic rant she had during our chat. Can we not recognize sarcasm anymore?"

"Here is the full clip of Roseanne Barr obviously using sarcasm and satire," he added in a separate tweet, before singing praise for the "Roseanne" alum as writing, "She is a mensch and one of the funniest people i've ever met."

Theo Von's Tweets

Theo Von defended Roseanne Barr's Holocaust comments.

Roseanne previously had her revived sitcom canceled by ABC in 2018 after she made a tweet condemned as racist by many people. She compared former president Barack Obama's adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape and claimed George Soros was a Nazi sympathizer in the controversial tweet, which she later dubbed a "bad joke."
