AceShowbiz - Stars flocked the United Palace in New York City for the 76th annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 11. Hosted by Ariana DeBose for the second year in a row, the award-giving event will be honoring Broadway's best productions and performances. However, before the winners are announced, stars showcase their best look while gracing the red carpet.
Lupita Nyong'o easily turned heads with her statement-making outfit for the occasion. The Oscar-winning actress opted to wear an ultra-realistic silver breastplate which was molded from her own naked body. The 40-year-old star paired it with a black velvet blazer and flared trousers.
The "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" actress claimed that wearing the custom Misha Japanwala design made her feel "honored, humbled, strengthened and energized." She explained, "Misha Japanwala is a Pakistani artist and fashion designer, whose work is rooted in the rejection and deconstruction of external shame attached to one's body. In her artistic process, she creates a realistic and true record of a person's body as an act of resistance and celebration, and an insistence on being allowed to exist freely in our bodies."
Also stunning on the red carpet was Jessica Chastain. The actress, who is up for best actress category for his performance in "A Doll's House", was a ray of sunshine in a bold yellow Gucci gown which had a cape and train. The dress also featured a sculpted bodice and sweetheart neckline.
She completed her look with an oversized necklace that dangled down her chest. As for her blonde hair, she tied her hair back into a tight ponytail to keep her glam sleek and chic.
Meanwhile, Uzo Aduba used this year's Tony Awards as the opportunity to debut her baby bump. The "Orange Is the New Black" alum dressed in a bright orange Christian Siriano suit ensemble. She left her suit jacket unbuttoned to give fans a better look at her burgeoning bump. She was also seen sporting a huge smile while posing with her filmmaker husband, Robert Sweeting.
Also among the attendees at the star-studded ceremony were Ben Platt and his fiance Noah Galvin. The couple, who was twinning in black suits with double-breasted jackets and baggy pants, showed a little PDA as they kissed while posing together on the red carpet. This year, the "Dear Evan Hansen" star is nominated for lead actor in a musical for his role in the "Parade" revival.
