During his appearance at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the 'Friends' star admits that the negative comments he made about the 'John Wick' actor was stupid.

AceShowbiz - Matthew Perry has promised to personally apologize to Keanu Reeves. During an appearance at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the "Friends" star addressed the "mean" insult he made about the "John Wick: Chapter 4" actor in his tell-all memoir, and noted what he wanted to do to amend.
On Saturday, April 22, the 53-year-old actor attended a panel discussion moderated by Matt Brennan that was held at USC's Bovard Auditorium. There, he declared, "I've apologized publicly to [Keanu]. Any future versions of the book will not have his name in it," as referring to the insults he made against the latter in "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing".
The former star of "The Odd Couple" additionally admitted that he has not had the chance to apologize in person to Keanu. However, he assured, "If I run into the guy, I'll apologize. It was just stupid." He further acknowledged, "I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do." On the reason behind the negative remarks, he explained, "I pulled his name because I live on the same street."
Matthew made disparaging statements about Keanu in his memoir in the context of his connection to the late River Phoenix. He penned, "River was a beautiful man, inside and out - too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?"
In the memoir, the SAG award winner also made similar remarks when discussing Chris Farley's death from a drug overdose. He wrote, "I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston's dressing room wall when I found out [about Farley's death]. Keanu Reeves walks among us."
Matthew's controversial remarks stole headlines before his book was released in 2022. He was quick to apologize for it, explaining to PEOPLE at the time, "I'm actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead."
