The former 'The Biggest Loser' trainer comes under fire after being accused of body-shaming the 'Truth Hurts' hitmaker as saying, '... it isn't going to be awesome if she gets diabetes.'

AceShowbiz - Jillian Michaels has come under fire after making controversial comments about Lizzo's weight. Appearing on Buzzfeed News' digital series "AM to DM", the fitness guru talked about this new trend of body positivity and self-acceptance, during which she expressed her disagreement about glorifying obesity.

"Why are we celebrating her body?" she said of the femcee. "Why does it matter? Why aren't we celebrating her music? 'Cause it isn't going to be awesome if she gets diabetes." She went on sharing her thoughts on the rap star, "I'm just being honest. I love her music, my kid loves her music, but there's never a moment when I'm like, 'I'm so glad she's overweight.' Why do I even care? Why is it my job to care about her weight?"

Needless to say, her comments sparked backlash, with many accusing her of body-shaming Lizzo. Jameela Jamil, who has been a major advocate for self-acceptance and self-love, was one of those who called out the trainer. "Just saying... MY WHOLE DAMN THIN FAMILY HAS DIABETES AND HIGH CHOLESTEROL AND PROBLEMS WITH OUR JOINTS," so the British actress posted on Twitter. "Why is This woman acting like she's an MRI? Stop concern-trolling fat people and get in the bin."

It didn't take long for Jillian to notice the criticism and respond to it. She took to her social media accounts to explain her earlier statements, writing, "As I've stated repeatedly, we are all beautiful, worthy and equally deserving. I also feel strongly that we love ourselves enough to acknowledge there are serious health consequences that come with obesity-heart disease, diabetes, cancer to name only a few. I would never wish these for ANYONE and I would hope we prioritize our health because we LOVE ourselves and our bodies."

But not all could accept Jillian's explanation, with one arguing, "Don't skinny people get diseases as well? What a ignorant way of thinking." Another similarly added, "But you can be a plus size woman and be healthy ...." Someone else commented, "She shouldve just minded her own business to begin with!"

Some others, however, thought that there's nothing wrong with what the former "The Biggest Loser" trainer said. "I feel like intention is everything... she is literally a fitness guru, this is what she has devoted her life to. So I see no problem with her speaking on it and giving her input," one commented.

Another defended her, "She said nothing wrong, she is a fitness guru she knows." Another hit back at those critics, "She did not say anything wrong at all. Some people are just don’t like facts that much."
