The former 'Glee' star calls her festive studio album a love letter and she wants it to 'encapsulate' her wonderful wedding year with husband Zandy Reich.

AceShowbiz - Actress and singer Lea Michele wanted to "encapsulate" her wonderful wedding year by recording all her festive favourites for her first Christmas album.

The former "Glee" star loves to celebrate the season in her native New York, and to mark her first as Mrs. Zandy Reich, she decided to cover holiday hits like "Silent Night, It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas", which she performs with her pal Jonathan Groff.

"I made this album as sort of a love letter to New York and coming home for the holidays," she said of the recently released Christmas in the City.

"(My wedding) was literally the best day of my entire life! I know everybody says that, but it was so perfect, I wish I could do it over, and over, and over again!"

"And that's really honestly why I wanted to do a Christmas album this year, because it's been truly a happy, wonderful year and I just wanted to encapsulate that with ending on this happy note with this record."

Sharing how she picked the tracks for the holiday album, she added, "Silver Bells is my favourite Christmas song... These are all my most favourite Christmas songs."

Michele wed fashion executive Reich in March.
