AceShowbiz - Season 3 of "Riverdale" will see the cast playing their characters' respective parents in a flashback episode titled "The Midnight Club". Now, fans are offered the first official look of them posing as their parents in the upcoming episode.
Coming via Entertainment Weekly, one of the photos features Lili Reinhart as her mother Alice Cooper, Camila Mendes as Hermione Gomez, Ashleigh Murray as Sierra Samuels (now known as Mayor Sierra McCoy) and Madelaine Petsch as a young Penelope Blossom. They are seen gathering in a bathroom with Penelope seemingly handing a paper to Alice.
It seems like it's taken before Alice renounced her Southside roots as Lili is seen donning a black leather jacket over a black tiny bralette. She has her plaid shirt tied over her waist while sporting gothic makeup. Young Hermione, soon to be a Lodge, meanwhile, wears a white top, a tartan pleated skirt, a black cardigan and knee-high socks.
The other picture sees the ladies being joined by the male cast members. It features Cole Sprouse as former football star F.P. Jones and black-haired KJ Apa as Fred Andrews. They are all sitting on the floor in what seems like a classroom.
"Young Alice is so different from the Alice that you see today," says Lili, who also plays Alice's daughter Betty, of the younger version of her on-screen mom. "She's not just this uptight, precocious, looks-down-upon-everyone teen -- like she was a Serpent. So that gives her young personality a lot."
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa reveals that the case Riverdale's parents tried to crack in their youth is connected to main mystery in season 3. "One of the things that the kids discover pretty early on is that the murder victims in the present were playing a game called Gryphons & Gargoyles, which is of course the Riverdale version of Dungeons & Dragons," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "And what our kids in the present day discover is that their parents, when they were in high school, were also playing this game and there was a similar murder that happened in the past."
"The Midnight Club" is set to air on Wednesday, November 7. The episode will also feature guest appearance by Mark Consuelos' son Michael Consuelos as a young Hiram Lodge and "Breakfast Club" alum Anthony Michael Hall as Principal Featherhead.
