First-Look Photo of 'Watchmen' TV Series Features Mysterious Masked Man

AceShowbiz - Fans finally have the their official first-look photo at the upcoming "Watchmen" TV series hailing from Damon Lindelof. Coming from its newly-launched official Instagram account, the picture features the graphic novel's signature color, yellow.

The pictures sees someone fully covering his face with a yellow mask except for his eyes. Offering a menacing vibe, the man is seen donning a law-enforcement uniform, complete with a peaked hat.

The account doesn't offer other details about the picture beside writing, "Who Watches The Watchmen? #WatchmenHBO," in the caption.

Previous set photos featured Don Johnson filming a scene with in a police officer uniform, though the actor was seen without a mask. The new photo now gets fans wonder if the yellow mask indicates a specific meaning or that they are simply part of the standard uniform worn by parapolice organization in an alternative universe city of Tulsa.

Fans assume that the man is Rorschach, the masked protagonist of the original comic. The other fan theory suggests that it may be the Comedian, the jingoistic and militant hero whose death is the driving mystery behind the graphic novel.

Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Blake Nelson, Jacob Ming-Trent, Dylan Schombing and Lily Rose Smith are among the stars of the new HBO series. As the new series is set in an alternative universe that separates itself from the original work, there will be a slew of new, unknown characters. "Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising, yet familiar set of eyes," Landelof previously wrote on the letter addressed to fans.

Lindelof is set to pen and executive produce the upcoming series, while Nicole Kassell serves behind the lense for the pilot as well as executive produces. Also attached as executive producers are director Stephen Williams, Joseph Iberti and Tom Spezialy. White Rabbit produces for HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television.
