Bradley Cooper Earns First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'A Star Is Born' Soundtrack

AceShowbiz - "A Star Is Born" soundtrack album officially opens at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The effort, which was released via Interscope Records on October 5, debuts with 231,000 equivalent unit albums comprising of 162,000 pure album sales in the week ending October 11, according to Nielsen Music.

This marks Lady GaGa's fifth No. 1 album on the chart and Bradley Cooper's first. It also makes the songstress the only woman to have five No. 1 albums this decade. Taylor Swift previously tied the feat last year with her record-breaking "Reputation" album, her fourth chart-topper of the decade.

"A Star Is Born" is the third chart-topping soundtrack album in 2018, following "The Greatest Showman" and "Black Panther" soundtrack. It additionally lands the biggest week for a soundtrack album since "Fifty Shades of Grey" soundtrack opened at No. 2 with 258,000 units.

In addition, the effort beats out Twenty One Pilots' "Trench", which arrives at No. 2 with 175,000 units. Despite their loss, the set scores the band's biggest sales ever since "Blurryface" sold 134,000 in its first week in 2015. Former chart-topper, Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter V" slips to No. 3 with 135,000 units.

Gunna, who scores his first top 10 album as his collaborative album with Lil Baby, "Drip Harder", launches at No. 4 with 130,000 units. Meanwhile, Eric Church scores his fifth top 10 effort with "Desperate Man", which closes out the top 5 with 116,000 units.

Another act who earns their first top 10 album is Steve Perry with his third solo studio effort "Traces". The album arrives at No. 6 with 73,000 units. Meanwhile, for KING & COUNTRY's "Burn the Ships" bows at No. 7 with 62,000 units, marking the gospel musician's best sales week, highest-charting album, and first top 10 effort.

The last three spots in the top 10 are occupied by Drake's "Scorpion" which falls to No. 8 with 54,000 units, Travis Scott (II)'s "Astroworld" which slips to No. 9 with 49,000 units and Post Malone's "Beerbongs & Bentleys" which jumps down to No. 10 with 44,000 units.
