During an interview with 'Good Morning America', the 'Cougar Town' actress reveals she had an epiphany about hosting late night show at a party held at the Merv Griffin estate.

AceShowbiz - Actress Busy Philipps credits her quirky posts on her Instagram Stories timeline with helping to revive her career.

The "Dawson's Creek" and "Cougar Town" star has become known for her candid use of social media in the past couple of years, often sharing funny stories of her everyday life and adventures in Hollywood with fans online.

The videos started as a way for Busy to entertain herself while she was in between jobs, and she is amazed at how she's managed to turn the hobby into two big job opportunities with her upcoming memoir, "This Will Only Hurt a Little", and her upcoming talk show, "Busy Tonight".

"I was an out of work actress, and being out of work coincided with the start of Instagram Stories, and I've always loved reality shows and confessionals, and so I sort of, at the end of the night, was like, 'Well, why don't I just make this my own reality show?'" she recalled on breakfast show "Good Morning America".

"I didn't care if anyone watched it, and then people started watching it, and then it became really fun..., which is basically how I got a book deal, and now a late-night talk show!"

The 39 year old claims she had an epiphany about her new career path while attending a party at the Palm Springs, California estate of late U.S. presenter Merv Griffin', who she is convinced had a hand in nudging her in the right direction from beyond the grave.

"I've been in a little bit of a career crossroads doing different things... I didn't know what I wanted to do...," she said. "I went to this party at the Merv Griffin estate in Palm Springs, and we had some cocktails..., and I was sitting, looking out at the stars, and I turned to my husband Marc (Silverstein) and I was like, 'I'm supposed to be a late night talk show (host), the spirit of Merv Griffin is telling me right now!'"

Busy's presenting dreams have since come true, and she will premiere "Busy Tonight" on U.S. network E! later this month.
