Revealing that he fell into depression after 'Roseanne' cancellation, the Dan Conner depicter praises his former co-star for giving up a lot and admits he missed her on the set of the spin-off show.

AceShowbiz - John Goodman found it "very weird" to shoot his new TV show without Roseanne Barr.

In May, the controversial comedienne sparked an online uproar after attacking Valerie Jarrett, one of former U.S. President Barack Obama's top aides, in an ill-advised social media post, leading bosses at ABC to immediately axe her rebooted '80s sitcom, "Roseanne".

A re-tooled spin-off of the show involving the fictional Conner family without Roseanne entitled "The Conners" is now in the works, though John, who played Roseanne's TV husband Dan Conner, has now admitted that he "misses" his long-time co-star.

"It was very weird doing the first show without her because she's my buddy," he said during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday night (October 08). "I mean we just sit there and she'd make me laugh and I'd make her laugh, which was always fun because there's a danger of her peeing herself."

He went on to praise Roseanne, 65, for agreeing to allow "The Conners" to be made with the former cast members, including Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert.

"She gave up a lot for us to be able to do this show, and I can't thank her enough," the 66-year-old noted.

But during the chat, John also confessed that he fell into a deep depression in the weeks after the cancellation of "Roseanne". Not only was he affected by the end of the show, but a number of other incidents in his personal life.

"Last year was so miraculous and so unreal that when it went away, it was almost like a dream," he sighed. "I thought, 'OK, I'll be a big boy and handle this.' And I just crashed for a couple weeks. All kinds of weird stuff happened, my wife got sick after that and then I fell down the stairs."

"The Conners" is set to premiere in the U.S. on October 16.
