According to Favreau's Instagram post, the upcoming 10-episode live-action series is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

AceShowbiz - Jon Favreau has offered some details of forthcoming "Star Wars" live-action TV show which is set to air on Disney's yet-untitled streaming service. Fans can finally know the title of the planned series as "The Jungle Book" director announces that the new series is titled "The Mandalorian".

Favreau, who is attached as writer and executive producer, takes to his Instagram account to share some details about the upcoming series. "After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe," he writes.

According to the post, 10-episode "The Mandalorian" is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. "We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic," Favreau adds.

Favreau's post only confirms what has been running around within the fandom. The Mandalorians have been featured in several now non-canon novels, and with a good amount of screen time during "The Clone Wars". The synopsis, however, raises a new question: who is this "lone gunfighter?"

It arrives after it was rumored that Pedro Pascal was eyed to be the lead actor on the series. With that being said, fans assume that the "Game of Thrones" actor may take on the role of the "lone gunfighter." It seems like fans won't wait for too long for casting details now that Favreau has revealed these details.

It was also reported that "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor and "Star Wars Rebels" director Dave Filoni were among the contenders of those who would serve behind the lens of the series.

The production of "The Mandalorian", which is set with allegedly a $100M budget, started in recent days. Judging from the set photos which have been circulated online, it's also assumed that the planned series will take place on the desert planet of Tatooine. Tatooine is a key part of the "Star Wars" mythology. In addition of being the home of the Skywalkers, it's known for its iconic dunes, Jawas, Tusken Raiders and Banthas play a large role in the public image of the franchise.
