The clip opens with Daryl (Norman Reedus), the new leader of the Sanctuary, and others marching into the Sanctuary.

AceShowbiz - "The Walking Dead" season 9 won't premiere until Sunday, October 7, but fans of the zombie drama can catch the first five minutes of the long-awaited season. Although the All-Out War has ended, death is still an inevitable thing on the AMC series.

The clip opens with Daryl (Norman Reedus), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and others marching into the Sanctuary, where other Saviors welcomed them with a huge applaud. However, the atmosphere turned heavy as Daryl revealed to Laura that he just "lost someone."

It remains to be seen who is that someone. However, it's safe to assume that it's not Eugene, Michonne, Ezekiel, Jerry, Carol, Daryl or Rick. Fans begin to wonder whether it was the death of a minor or major character. The possibility of it being a major character is obviously there as Daryl seems to be particularly morose.

Meanwhile, another speculation suggests that it may not about death. Daryl may just mean that they literally misplaced someone.

The upcoming season 9 will be the last season featuring Lincoln. However, the actor recently hinted of his possible return to the series in a new capacity.

In a new interview, Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly that he's eyeing a directorial duty on the series next year. "I'm going back," said the actor. "I'm going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year."

Lincoln shared that his motivation for directing was because he "can't be that far away because I can't bear it." He went on saying, "That's how much I am invested in the show and the continuation of the story." During the show's panel at Comic, he also joked that co-stars Norman Reedus and Danai Gurira send him scripts "so I can keep one eye on the series."

"The Walking Dead" will return for season 9 on October 7 on AMC.
