AceShowbiz - The latest "Halloween (2018)" movie is scaring up a storm at the U.S. box office.
Early forecasts suggest the horror film, which features original "Halloween" scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, is set for a possible $50 million (GBP38 million) debut - the biggest opening for any "Halloween" franchise movie - over the 19 October weekend.
The previous record holder was the 2007 remake, which opened with $26.3 million (GBP20 million).
The latest "Halloween" movie will debut a week before the 40th anniversary of director John Carpenter's original, which hit cinemas on 25 October, 1978.
David Gordon Green is the director of the latest film, which was co-written by actor Danny McBride.
It's the 12th film in the "Halloween" collection. The last movie, "Halloween II", hit cinemas in 2009.
Meanwhile, Curtis, who reprises her character Laurie Strode in the new movie, was surprised to be reunited with her Halloween co-star Kyle Richards at a press junket for the film last week, ends September 14.
In the 1978 original, Curtis' Strode was babysitting child star Richards' character Lindsey as all hell broke loose around them in the form of psychopathic killer Michael Myers.
Reality TV star Richards interviewed Curtis for Entertainment Tonight.
During another recent interview, Jamie Lee revealed she only agreed to be part of 1998 horror movie "Halloween H20" for the money.
The actress insists she really wanted to be a part of the latest project, unlike the last time she signed on for a "Halloween" film.
"H20 started out with best intentions, but it ended up being a money gig," she shared. "The film had some good things about it. It talked about alcoholism and trauma, but I ended up really doing it for the pay cheque."
