Meanwhile, star Sterling K. Brown hints that the 'her' is 'someone that we have met over the first two seasons.'

AceShowbiz - "This Is Us" has finally returned after six months. Airing on Tuesday, September 25, the season 3 premiere of the SAG Awards-winning series delivers not one but two twists which add more mysteries that are barely solved on the NBC family drama.

In typical "This Is Us" fashion, "Nine Bucks" brought viewers back and forth between the past, present and future. The episode offered more insights into Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) first date back in 1972 after the former saw the latter performing "Moonshadow" at a bar.

Things went well between the two as they even ended their date with a kiss. Jack drove Rebecca home, and before she headed back into her house, she gave Jack a kiss, leaving her sweater behind. Just when Jack things that the odds were in his favor, he saw Rebecca kissing another man when he tried to bring her flowers and return the sweater.

Meanwhile, the biggest highlight of the episode was probably the part where viewers were offered more hints about the "her" that old Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and adult Tess (Iantha Richardson) talked about in season 2 finale. "It was time to see her," Randall told Tess, making everyone wonder who could "her" possibly be.

Taking fans all the way to the distant future, the episode saw Randall calling old Toby (Chris Sullivan), who was in bed looking depressed. "It's time to come down," said Randall to Toby. "I'm not coming down, she doesn't want to see me," Toby responded.

"No, she wants to see you," Randall convinced Toby, and it worked as oby left his bed to seemingly meet "her." With that, people start to speculate whether "her" is Kate (Chrissy Metz). And that leads to many more questions such as where was Kate? If "her" is Kate, why doesn't she want to meet Toby? Are they still married? And what's the connection between Kate and Tess?

Sterling reveals that the revelation of the identity of "her" may arrive sooner than people think. "The 'her' is a woman. I can tell you that much," he shares. "It is someone that we have met over the first two seasons, so it won’t be something that comes out of nowhere."

When asked when it will be revaled, Sterling responds, "I think by about midseason, maybe episode 9 or so, the audience will know who that individual is."

"This Is Us" season 3 airs on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. on NBC.
