In 'Queen of the World' documentary, the Duchess of Sussex uncovers that her wedding veil withheld a piece of fabric from the blue dress she wore on her first date with Prince Harry.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex secretly included a memento of her first date with Prince Harry into her stunning wedding veil.

It is traditional for a bride to wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue for her nuptials, and despite having a much more modern ceremony than previous royal weddings, the 37 year old still followed the age-old tradition.

In a new documentary on the monarchy, titled "Queen of the World", Meghan is seen coming face-to-face with her beautiful custom-made wedding gown, designed by Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller.

Her long veil was also designed by Clare and made entirely by hand, and Meghan revealed that a small square of fabric from the blue dress she wore when she first stepped out with her future husband was sewn into the intricate accessory.

"Somewhere in here there's a piece of blue fabric that's stitched inside - it was my something blue," she smiled sweetly while running her fingers through the veil. "It's fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date."

The veil also had another significant meaning, with each of the individual flowers representing the 53 nations of the Commonwealth featuring on the delicate embroidery.

Meghan explained: "I'd originally said to Clare, the designer, how can we incorporate that? Would it be the state flower, country flower of each place? And it was her idea to do wild flowers, which I think ended up being a really beautiful way to embody the feeling of it."

The former actress also revealed that she and Clare included a touching reminder of Meghan's homeland.

"I stuck in a couple of flowers that were important to me as well personally, but there is a California Poppy in there which has nothing to do with the Commonwealth, but it's where I'm from," she gushed.

Meghan's dress and veil were estimated to have cost more than $500,000 (£387,000).

"Queen of the World" is set to air in the U.K. on Tuesday, September 25.
