Nothing much is known about the project, though Deadline states that it will an hourlong drama hailing from 'Wonder Woman' scribe Allan Heinberg.

AceShowbiz - ABC is working on a new female-centric series featuring female Marvel superheroes. The planned series will hail from Marvel Television, ABC Studios and Allan Heinberg, the scribe of the successful movie "Wonder Woman".

Nothing much is known about the project, though Deadline states that it will be an hourlong drama. It is also reported that the new series will center on lesser-known Marvel characters. That leads to speculation it that it will be a TV series about A-Force, Lady Liberators and Fearless Defenders, who are dubbed obscure female superhero team-ups by the site.

Alongside writing the script, Heinberg will serve as executive producer with Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb. The report notes that ABC has been making the launch of new Marvel series a priority. "In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development," the network's entertainment president Channing Dungey told Deadline last month. "I'm very excited about it."

Should the report be true, it's not the first time for ABC to develop a female Marvel superhero-led series. Previously, the network developed "Marvel's Jessica Jones", though it eventually migrated to Netflix. The new project will join fellow Marvel series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on the network which is entering its sixth season in next summer.

The news arrives on the wake of rumors of Disney working on multiple limited series centering on several major characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for its upcoming streaming service. The alleged new spin-offs were said to be starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen who are best known for their roles as Loki and Scarlet Witch respectively.

The planned series were rumored to be centering on heroes who haven't received their own standalone movies. With that being said, fans seemingly wouldn't get to see Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Doctor Strange and Black Widow on the rumored projects.
