'The Crown' actress, who snagged Outstanding Lead Actress prize at the annual award event, was almost not allowed entry to the Governors Ball because of a ripped ticket.

AceShowbiz - Emmy Award winner Claire Foy was rescued from rejection outside an after-party by "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" star Jonathan Van Ness.

Claire won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series prize for her portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth II in "The Crown" at Monday's (September 17) ceremony, but was almost not allowed entry to the official after-show event, the Governors Ball.

Documenting the bizarre moment, The Hollywood Reporter columnist Chris Gardner wrote on Twitter: "Just witnessed crazy #EMMYS moment: Queen almost couldn't get into Governors Ball. Claire Foy, best actress in drama winner, denied entry because of ripped ticket that prevented her team from entering back entrance until @jvn came to rescue after gushing over how much he loves her."

A picture accompanying the tweet showed Claire fretting and clutching her Emmy alongside a group of people, including Jonathan, outside the entrance to the bash at the L.A. Live Event Deck.

Jonathan expressed his excitement at meeting "The Crown" star by posting an Instagram picture of himself hugging her, which he captioned: "Oh. My. F**king. God. MOM! MOM!! MOM our fav(ourite)!!!"

The 34-year-old actress' win in the most prestigious acting category was one of two prizes "The Crown" won at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards. The team behind the Netflix drama, which tells the story of the British monarchy from the beginning of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, also bagged the Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series gong.

Despite her win, Claire will not play the Queen in the third series of "The Crown", as the role has passed to Olivia Colman, who will play a middle-aged Elizabeth. She was also at the center of a controversy over equal pay, after it emerged she was paid less than her co-star Matt Smith, who plays the Queen's husband Prince Philip. The Crown's producers apologised to her for the pay disparity, and reportedly offered to make up the difference in their salaries.
