AceShowbiz - The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards concluded the big night after honoring top talents in all aspects of television production on Monday, September 17 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones, which was not elligible for last year's Emmys, returned triumphantly as it was announced as the winner of Outstanding Drama Series.

The Kit Harington-starring medieval series beat out the likes of "The Americans", "The Crown", "The Handmaid's Tale", "This Is Us", "Westworld" and "Stranger Things". It marked the second win for the series following Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series win for Peter Dinklage.

D.B. Weiss accepted the award alongside the show's cast and crew, saying, "The show cannot be without the mad genius of George [R.R. Martin]." David Benioff added, "We are blessed and lucky to have the greatest cast, the greatest crew and the greatest team of producers."

Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", meanwhile, ruled the night as it snatched one of the big awards of the event. Presented by Will Ferrell, the award for Outstanding Comedy Series went to the series. The comedy led the winners for the 2018 Emmys with five wins including best lead actress in a comedy series for Rachel Brosnahan, best writing for a comedy series, best directing for a comedy series and best supporting actress in a comedy series for Alex Borstein.

Producer Daniel Palladino and the cast and crew took to stage to thank Amazon, saying, "You guys have been nothing but supportive." He also thanked the crew members of the series, adding that he's looking forward to working with them in the upcoming season 3.

"The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" collected three awards, while "The Crown", "The Americans" and "Godless" went home with two trophies each. In addition to bagging the award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for Darren Criss, "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" won Outstanding Limited Series or Movie.

During Ryan Murphy's speech, he dedicated the award to LGBTQ community. "It's about homophobia, internalized and externalized ... One out of every four LGBTQ people in this country will be the victim of a hate crime," he said of his show. "We dedicate this award to awareness, to stricter hate crime laws and mostly this award is to Gianni [Versace] and Jeff [Trail] and David [Madsen]."
