Fresh of her own nearly fatal overdose, the 'Skyscraper' singer realizes she could've been the one who died.

AceShowbiz - Mac Miller's death has been a major wake up call for Demi Lovato. The former Disney star has been seeking treatment since her own alleged drug overdose last July, and the rapper's untimely passing of a similar issue reportedly shook her.

"Demi has been rocked by Mac Millers death," a source tells HollywoodLife.com. "She feels like that could have been her, not surviving an overdose. She has been crying and fighting back tears since she checked into rehab, and hearing about Mac's death has only made things more real."

As Mac's tragic passing hit her close to home, Demi feels the need to pay respects to the late star. "Even though she was never really close with Mac, she would like to go to his funeral to pay her respects if she can break away from rehab," the source adds.

If there's something that the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer learns from the tragedy, it's that she has to stay sober. The source goes on sharing, "Demi is doing her best now to stay sober and believes that Mac's death, while sad, is something she can learn from and use to draw strength from. Demi feels like, he died so that she can live."

Demi was hospitalized after suffering a suspected drug overdose on July 24. She went straight to rehab afterwards and reportedly will stay in the facility for several months. She broke her silence on her overdose earlier this month.

"I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction," she wrote on Instagram on August 5. "What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet." She added, "The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting."

Meanwhile, Mac Miller was found unresponsive at his San Fernando Valley home on Friday, September 7. He was reportedly dead hours before his body was found at around noon, although friends hung out with him and stayed at his place until the early hours of Friday morning.

A newly-revealed 911 call reveals his friend's frantic plea for help. In an audio record obtained by TMZ, the male caller asked the operator to send paramedics to Mac's home as soon as possible, begging, "Please hurry." He was heard hysterically crying before the call was dropped.
